Our brother in law.We have had a lot of laughs over many years.. Christmas cricket in your backyard in Grandview Grove. Too many things to remember. It is so sad that we cannot be there to say  how much we are going to miss you.

  • BRUCE POSTLE

Bryan never ceased to amaze me with the people and places he knew, no matter what the occasion. After a long day covering an Adelaide Test between England and Australia, then developing, printing and sending picture-grams, Bryan suggested that it was time for a drink. He led the way to a nearby pub, which was closed. I thought that he did not realise how late it was. Bryan, apparently undeterred, made his way round to a rear door. He pressed a bell, the door opened and the hotel manager greeted us: ‘Bryan … come on in’.

He poured us a beer then suggested we make our way to an inside room where an American blues and jazz band was rehearsing for a concert the following night. We were the only ones there. The music was fantastic and the band played for around an hour. When they stopped for a meal they asked us to join them. It was a great night that did not finish until long after midnight. Needless to say we were slightly the worse for wear at the Test next day.

Denise, you and Bryan have been great friends to so many people over many years. He will always be remembered and sadly missed. We will always remember the happy times that we spent with you both, at your home and at numerous restaurants, during my assignments at the Test cricket, the Grand Prix and the Royal Tours.

Our thoughts are with you and your family.

    Bryan ~

    Such a good friend.

Always smiling, welcoming, planning his next adventure.

I remember times spent at Carackalinga, eating, drinking gin and tonics on the beach.

I will miss his joy of life and endless energy.

A very special man is lost to us!

  • Bruce Packer, Support Act SA Committee, Go-Set Magazine

I first met Bryan back in the late 1960’s when I was a journalist for the Melbourne publication, Go-Set Magazine. At the time I worked under the name Bruce King, and I needed a photographer to take pictures of local bands, artists and venues for the Adelaide content in Go-Set.  How I met Bryan is unclear now, but we clicked, and not only did he produce some outstanding photographs, but we became good friends.

In 1972 we both headed of to London, me as tour manager with Adelaide based band Fraternity, and Bryan as a photographer of on an adventure of a lifetime in swinging London.

We lost touch with each other, but fast forward to 2017, I had retired from working, and joined the local Support Act Ltd, committee, whose purpose was to fund-raise on behalf of the charity supporting music professionals down on their luck, suffering ill health, or generally in need of some support. Support Act is a National charity based in Sydney, and locally we run a monthly luncheon on the third Thursday of the month currently at the Highway Hotel.  Bryan and another old mutual friend turned up for lunch one day, much to my surprise and delight.

Forward to February 2019, and Bryan donated one of his limited edition prints for auction at our luncheon.  There was some spirited bidding, and the print finally sold for $910.00.  We were extremely grateful for Bryan’s generous donation, but that was Bryan, a lovely guy, a generous spirit, and a man of great talent.  Taken from us to soon.  Our condolences to Bryan’s family and friends in your loss, may your memories burn brightly.

Bryan has been a great mate and such a big part of my life – and I’m thankful that I introduced him to his beautiful wife and soul mate, Denise.

A wise man once told me a person hasn’t passed until people stop thinking or talking about them – and this will never happen with Bryan.

The photo represents a friendship with 4 mates spanning 5 decades.

We will all miss you so much.
